CRC believes that children with mental health needs are best served in their own communities and in family settings where they will be afforded every opportunity to grow and mature in a loving and nurturing environment. Services to children and families are most effective when they are family focused, child centered, community based and culturally sensitive.

The members of CRC include families, services providers and community members who will serve as a governing body to CRC initiatives. We will provide a collaborative forum to utilize and expand existing services and develop new resources to readily assist, support and advocate for children and families.

System of Care?

A System of Care is not a program, it is a philosophy of how care should be provided to children and youth. It is an approach to the provision of services that acknowledges the importance of family and other caregivers, school and community, and seeks to promote the full potential of every child and youth by addressing their physical, social, emotional, intellectual, cultural, and linguistic needs.

We serve families and their children from birth to age 18 (up through 21 if they are still receiving services from their local educational authority, and currently, or at any time in the past year) in northeast Connecticut:

  • With a diagnosed or diagnosable psychiatric disorder
  • At risk for being separated from their families and community
  • Presently in an out-of-home placement and needing service coordination to return home with varied, intensive needs
